The Aeneid, composed by the Roman poet Virgil between 29 and 19 BC, is an epic masterpiece that stands as a cornerstone of Western literature. It is the national epic of the Roman people, a grand tapestry woven with myth, history, and allegory that celebrates the origins and destiny of Rome.
The poem narrates the journey of Aeneas, a Trojan hero who flees the fall of his beloved city and embarks on a perilous voyage to Italy, guided by destiny to found the Roman people. Along the way, he encounters countless challenges, from storms and monsters to the wrath of Juno, the queen of the gods. But through it all, Aeneas perseveres, driven by his unwavering faith in his mission.
